FFXI… so it begins…. again.

We have once again returned to our old home of Vana’diel. Much has changed in our absence but we still find that enough remains for us to enjoy the game while we learn the new stuff. I missed my Taru and so once again he will journey forth to hopefully kick some beastmen arse.

So long and thanks for all the fish

we have quit playing WoW.  it was just getting rather monotonous and boring and frankly the griefers were annoying the fuck out of me.  i don’t understand the mentality of those idiots.  whether we come back or not is unsure but for now it doesn’t look like it.  we have started playing ffxi again and i am actually having fun playing that game more than i ever did any of the other we’ve played or just tried out.  it can get frustrating but i find the game far more amusing and engaging than the others.  i think for an mmo it is my favorite followed perhaps by anarchy online which we played once upon a time.  will this become a ffxi blog?  i don’t know but thought i’d update with this none the less.

Wrath pt. 2

We got on to play. Created some Death Knights on our Alliance server and began to play…

Death Knights are interesting. Despite the annoyances of playing on a launch night, such as overcrowding of an area, ninja’ing of kills and such, the overall character experience wasn’t too bad. I feel the DK is really like a paladin with the ability to hybridize into another class based on talents. I am considering either frost or unholy. Blood talents look cool but not sure on that yet. I may wait to see which my sweetie uses and then take one of the others to try it out.

We shall see how the DK journey goes.

oh…. and Frosty is soooooooooo cute.

Wrath of the Lich King

We have officially upgraded to the latest expansion pack. Kesryth has been offered hundreds of dollars for his collector’s edition copy that he pre-ordered more than a month ago. That’s just crazy… people are crazy to want to pay that much money; It’s just a game and certainly not worth hundreds of dollars. Regardless he has his fancy copy and the pretties that go along with it.

Now we just have to actually get on to play…

A little frustrating

That was last night when we tried playing and every few minutes we were getting disconnected.  that isn’t fun and doesn’t induce fun while playing.  hopefully they’ll get that issue or whatever it was fixed.  and yes we checked our settings, our router, firewall etc… and everything was working fine and set correctly.  don’t think i’d want to play again until it gets fixed; it’s too frustrating to try playing when you’re getting kicked all the time.

Level 30

I did it; I hit level 30 with my solo warlock. I’m actually 31 now I think but still… I like having my mount. Makes going places so much faster.

Broke Level 20

I broke level 20 with my solo warlock Bloodwyn. There were a few times when I partied up with one of Daagoth’s characters for quests like killing Darkhan (sp?) but otherwise I did it entirely on my own. I even got my succubus by myself. Considering I never used to like playing a solo character in WoW this is something of an accomplishment. Now let’s see if I can hit 30 without any major assistance.

Soloing

Yesterday I spent some time soloing. Daagoth has a solo character that he likes to play and he suggested I try it. I tried it once before but didn’t particularly enjoy myself but this time was different. I actually enjoyed playing alone; although I did run into his character every now and then since we were in the same areas. I think the mod that helps you track and order your quests really helped. I didn’t feel quite so lost and wandering and like there is no point to playing the game. It finally had a point. I wouldn’t say I’d want to play all the time as a solo but I can definitely see playing her again if Daagoth was playing his solo or if he was busy doing other things.

My little solo warlock Bloodwyn went from 7-14 last night and I did it on my own which is rather an accomplishment considering I normally couldn’t stant playing that game alone. It’s nice to know I can play it if i wanted to even if daagoth wasn’t.

We’re Baack

It’s official; we’re back in Azeroth. We just canceled our CoV accounts and re-upped our WoW accounts. Probably be on Sen Jin for our horde and Vek’nilash for our alliance.

It’s only been a few months since we last played but boy have they changed lots of things since we were last here. I suppose we should be used to it. After playing for 2+ years on and off they’ve made quite a few changes here and there.

Once we have everything set up in game we’ll be back playing as usual. Should be fun.

Time for a change?

Perhaps so. Hubby has been checking out and talking about WoW both the current stuff and the new expansion they are coming out with. I’m thinking it may be time to switch from City of Villains back to WoW. If we could afford both and I knew we would play both enough to warrant the monthly price then that’s what we would do but it’s an either/or situation. I’m getting the feeling that while fun there is more interest in WoW which is fine with me.

So perhaps we shall be traipsing through the Azeroth landscape before too long. Besides, I know how much hubby wants to play a gnome Death Knight.

We will see
